Why the Jeep Cherokee XJ
Some of you who have followed my Social Media may have seen me in a nice Jeep Wrangler. Well, I have been as a passenger, that is Kyle’s Jeep. He’s got a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JK. I realized that I needed to get a Jeep to hit the trails with. Kyle and I did some research, looking for a Jeep, and trying to find a good deal. As much as I want a Wrangler, they are unfortunately out of the budget.
Looking for my own Jeep
While looking for my Jeep and looking at the different models. Kyle and I found the Jeep Cherokee XJ. We did some research and we found out that they are actually really quite capable offroad. They have 4 doors, (which is easier with kids). The other nice thing is they have the inline engine, whether you go with a four-cylinder or 6 cylinders. They are both inline engines.
We did more research found quite a few good options within the budget. The one I got, I traded a service with the previous owner. This actually helped out quite a bit cause it meant I could stretch the budget even further.
I found my own Jeep
When I made the trade I knew the Jeep Cherokee XJ needed some work to get it running, and it needed some love as well. This led to even more research and found out the inline engines are actually easy to work on. They are also really reliable and have a good amount of torque. Everything we found was that these engines were pretty much bulletproof.
It might not be the Jeep of my dreams, and I may not be able to take the top-down and the doors off. However, it has some pretty good bullet points.
- It was in the budget.
- The engine, I’ve heard nothing but good stuff, Reliable and easy to fix.
- It also had 4 doors which will make it easier for the kids to get in and out of.
